Julie Dix and Danielle Ayotte: Turning a Child’s Blanket into a Successful Business

Julie Dix and Danielle Ayotte were stay at home moms who stumbled upon a simple idea — put looped tags on babies blankets — and now run a multi-million dollar business.

It all started with the worn security blanket of Julie’s toddler. Noticing that her baby was interested in the satin tags on toys and clothin, Julie decided to repair the blanket and sew looped, satin tags around the edges. Her baby loved it!

She then partnered with another playgroup mom, Danielle, and they decided to take the idea further. They created blankets with tags, and sold them in a local flea market.
